Tiff Tiff’s Warrior Fund for Adolescent Sexual Assault Survivors
Tiffany Ann Meireis July 2, 1982 – April 19, 2022, 39 years old.
We lost our beloved daughter, sister, niece, and best friend on April 19, 2022, to cancer.
Most everyone who had the chance to meet Tiffany knew her as a caring, driven, fun-loving
a person who would do anything for anyone. She was a very accomplished professional woman
and moved up quickly in her field. She was also very loyal and was devoted to the same
company for her 21-year professional career.
In her personal life, Tiff was all about friends and family. She had a selfless love for her family
and friends and always put them first. When she laughed, everyone knew it was Tiff. She had a
sense of humor that made everyone smile.
What most people did not know about Tiffany is that she suppressed a deep pain that never went
away from the trauma that she experienced at the age of eight. Tiffany was sexually assaulted at this
very young age, and her mother did everything she could with the resources available at that time
to help her through this traumatic experience. It was an experience that no child should have to
go through.
As Tiffany got older, no one knew that she was still suppressing these feelings of trauma. Due to
the nature of the assault, she was afraid to see her gynecologist for annual checkups to ensure she
was healthy. When Tiff finally sought counseling, her counselor helped her deal with the trauma,
had her confide in a family member about what she experienced, and empowered her to seek
medical help. When Tiff went to see her gynecologist, it was too late, and she was diagnosed
with stage four Uterine cancer. If Tiff would have gotten the help she needed, her cancer
would have been caught at a much earlier stage and would have been entirely treatable.
Like she did her whole life, Tiff fought as hard as she could until the end, but the cancer was too
far advanced and aggressive to beat. She maintained her incredible sense of humor through it all
and was selfless to the end. She fought so hard to spare us all the pain of losing her.
Tiffany’s mother, sisters, brother, nephew, and nieces created Tiff Tiff’s Warrior Fund to share
Tiff’s story and to help other children deal with the trauma of sexual assault. Our goal is to raise
awareness and resources for victims of sexual assault so they can get the help they need before it
is too late.
We are partnering with Friends of Johnson County Mental Health Center to achieve our mission
(https://friendsofjcmhc.org).
Together we can fight in remembrance of our warrior, Tiffany, to help others overcome similar
trauma.
We love you, sweet Tiffany.
